Today, Facebook launched a new app called Slingshot.
The idea, according to Facebook, is to “build something where everybody is a creator and nobody is just a spectator. When everyone participates, there’s less pressure, more creativity and even the little things in life can turn into awesome shared experiences. This is what Slingshot is all about.”
Think of it as snapchat, but for a bigger group of people.
Slingshot lets you instantly share what you are doing with a group of friends. First you shoot a photo, selfie or video, add some text, then “sling” it to a friend or friends.
Here’s the catch; Friends can’t see the image or video until they send one of their own back to you. Then, the image or video disappears.
Slingshot is the second app from Creative Labs, a new initiative inside Facebook to encourage employees to take creative risks and speed up innovation at the giant social network.
A news reader called Paper was the first app to come out of Creative Labs.
